Hole- Celebrity Skin (1998)

Ok, I know Courtney Love is a big slut and really weird or whatever, but with that pushed aside along with her band, Hole really isn't that bad. Celebrity Skin is their most popular album, named after the horrid title track that plays on VH1 far too much. I'll usually just skip to "Awful" and go from there. It's hard to say what it is that's incredibly appealing about this album, aside from the simple fact that it sincerely is just catchy pop tunes (the closest to pop Hole ever went to, anyway). Other albums like Live Through This seem to lack the love-dovey, 90s heartstring pulling goop that Courtney&friends deliver on tracks like "Dying" or the adorable lyrics on "Heaven Tonight." (Though, I would like to add that Live Through This captures Love's very versatile vocal/growling range within lower octaves quite well. I would kill to sing like that.) With this kind of album, you can't judge too harshly. Sure you might hate Courtney Love, but it really doesn't dismiss the fact that it's still awesome.
